Biography

If you're looking for an eccentric, well-rounded actress don’t look beyond Alexandria Denise. This native Memphian exercised her long term interest in acting at the age of fourteen but before then, performing was not foreign to her. At a young age, Alexandria developed a voice for singing and skills for the piano. She sang in the church choir, leading songs like Testify by Dottey Peoples and a special tribute song to her deceased father “Really Gonna Miss You” by Smokey Robinson. Young Denise also performed at a city fair singing popular Disney songs from movies like Pocahontas and The Lion King. Denise's musical abilities transformed after enrolling in Corry Jr. High'’s Marching Band where she learned to play the classical woodwind instrument Clarinet.

Alexandria continued with marching band throughout her middle school and half of her high school years, being one of the best in her section, until a car accident closed that chapter in her life. Although she was barely injured, the lack of transportation disabled her six in a half years with the band only for a new chapter to emerge. Her infatuation with acting had bloomed into a passion after seeing Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Alexandria's dream had been put into action as she trained herself on the basics of acting and learned the 411 of the entertainment industry.

As her technique in acting developed, so did the opportunities. Early 2007, Alexandria trained under personal trainer and model Kevin “"KY"” Young at his newly found school, Panda Models & Talent. The primary goal was to construct kids in the area of modeling so very little acting was involved but within the year spent training with KY helped her develop an amazing model walk and one of the key characteristics of being a performer-- confidence. After Panda had closed, Denise entered a last minute modeling contest, competing against thrity-four other girls and won a one year scholarship to Leonard Pegues’ Reflections Model & Talent Agency. Again, only the demands of modeling were met.

It wasn't until her senior year in high school that Alexandria exposed her acting talent in school programs, performing poetry and class workshops, playing roles from required text like Beowulf as Beowulf, Shakespeare's Macbeth as Lady Macbeth and The Canterbury Tales as Wife of Bath, which she also directed. Denise got her first Hollywood experience as a Background Actor  in Soul Men with Samuel Jackson and Berne Mac and her second exposure working  as multiple characters with Director Craig Brewer in MTV’s $5 Cover Memphis.

Now  as a Tennessee State University Alumni, Alexandria has earned a BA in Speech Communications and Theatre. She has spent her four in half years in Nashville, Tennessee polishing her act in stage plays to later become a highly successful performer.
